Found some steel racking on craigslist, and just spent 4 hours turning this:

Kinja'd!!!

Into this:

Kinja'd!!!

It may not look much better, but once I get rid of the bench seats & move a few things into the basement I will be able to squeeze two cars in here for the first time since we bought the house. Plus everything I don't need to get at is out of the way, and everything I do need is easily accessible.

With any luck and a space heater, I will be able to actually work in here this winter.

I need to do this, but its much easier to procrastinate, in fact I'm a pro at it.

I've been putting it off for a while, but the frustration of tripping over crap and not being able to find anything finally exceeded how much I hate having to clean & organize.

Yep, It is 8ft wide & 5 ft deep. The posts are 8ft high and the shelving is adjustable. It is a lighter weight version of pallet racking.

I got lucky and got two sets on Craigslist for $100, the other set is going in the basement once I clear enough space to be able to set it up down there.

not sure I'd want to heavily load it, but the unused space above my car could get some good use with such a thing!

If you buy actual pallet racking it is rated for thousands of pounds per shelf, so unless you are storing a car above your car you would never overload it.
